Family Preservation Community Services is Hiring a Behavior Interventionist Near Lexington, SC

Job description

Family Preservation Community Services (FPCS) was founded in 1997. FPCS provides a variety of social services and therapies to children, adults, and families. We are located in South Carolina and North Carolina and have a long history of providing quality foster care and therapy in our market.

Behavior Specialist at FPCS provide an important service to the overall mission at FPCS. These positions help to keep the child in their home or foster home. The position provides additional support in the home, school or work setting allowing the client to be successful and meet their goals and needs. Bachelor's level staff are needed. Hiring is ongoing and as needed. May work up to 29 hours per week depending on need.

Responsibilities include:

Assist the client to learn to appropriately express her/his feelings under a wide range of circumstances.

Provide a range of activities which help the client to enhance his/her social, decision making and problem solving skills.

Help the client build appropriate relationships with other people.

Provide the opportunity to alter existing behaviors, acquire new behaviors, and function more effectively within his or her environment.

Improve the client's self-care/hygiene skills.

Provide interventions in her/his home environment to enable the client to remain in the home.

Promote development of healthy coping skills, adaptive patterns of interacting with others, and appropriate responses to environmental stimuli.

Provide temporary crisis intervention support.

Provide activities to alter patterns of behavior that are inappropriate or undesirable.

Assist in activities intended to increase and/or develop self-esteem.

Provide activities including modeling of appropriate behaviors in order to enhance his or her functioning within the home or community.

Structured, supervised activities intended to increase age appropriate behavior, appropriate techniques for expression of feelings, development of appropriate peer interactions, and development of coping skills.

Documentation that is clear and concise detailing all interventions.

Requirements include:

Master's Degree required for all behavior specialist positions.

Ability to drive to client homes in the evenings and on the weekends.

Must commit to a minimum of 15 hours weekly. This may mean working with more than one client.

Job Type: Part-time-The clients are specifically in the Lexington area, not Columbia so we need staff prepared to work in Lexington. Thank you.

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 15 per week
